This is a superb walk on a gentle gradient, following the meandering Waiau River as it travels from Lake Manapouri to Lake Te Anau.

To begin we travel by comfortable passenger vehicle to Lake Manapouri where we join a short cruise to Shallow Bay – from here our first point of interest is the Shallow Bay Hut and then the Moturau Hut – The Final hut for walkers on the Kepler Track, Next we visit the Kepler wetlands for a snack stop before continuing to walk towards Lake Te Anau – we stop at the Swing Bridge for a glance into the Waiau River to spot fish in the sparkling clear waters – This is a beautiful flat walk, suitable for most ages. This walk takes in lush low altitude beech forest and you can hear and see native birdlife.
