Guided Nature Walk, Key Summit - Routeburn Track
This is the classic walk from the Milford Road, following the initial stages of the Routeburn Track. The 400 metre ascent through silver beech forest rises above the tree line, arriving on the tussock tops to an alpine world of unique vegetation, tarns and 360 degree views.
The name ‘Key Summit’ is derived from the fact the hill lies at the source of three watersheds, leading to three oceans – the Southern Ocean via the Eglington and Waiau Rivers, the Tasman via the Hollyford River, or the Pacific Ocean via the Clutha system.
Snowy peaks, the vast forested Hollyford Valleys and the perfect alpine gardens are all rewards for your climb. |
